So You Wanna Make Money On The Internet?

Me too!

I am going to attempt to become a successful internet earner, and I am going to blog every bit of my progress. Hopefully you will learn something from the process and maybe if you are already seasoned at earning you can give me some advice as to avenues to pursue.

Let me start by telling you a little about myself. I have a decent career that provides myself and family with the income needed to survive. My career allows me for a lot of idle time both at work and at home. Funny thing is, I generally have more idle time at work to work on the internet marketing gig than I do at home. I am not really looking to replace my career, unless of course this thing gets really big.

How did I decide to begin chasing the internet dream? It happened by accident really. I had put a blog up that was documenting my credit repair progress in July 2007, my credit was real ugly after divorce, when I realized that without doing anything to promote my blog there were actually people finding it and commenting on it. I was running this blog on blogger. I decided to try and monetize the blog by putting some Adsense ads on it. It generated a few click here and there, nothing that was going to buy me more than a 12 pack of beer in a month, I saw potential. At this point I really had no clue about internet marketing, Adsense, or anything to do with making money online, I did know that by placing Adsense on my blog there was potential for earnings. I put up a couple more blogs detailing a couple of hobby related projects I was doing and monetized them with Adsense as well, again, no promotion whatsoever of the blog. This generated a few more clicks purely through organic search engine traffic. By Oct 2007 I was earning enough in a month to buy an 18 pack of beer.

Where am I at now? I am now currently making a little more than $1 a day on Adsense, this being a combination of (1) niche related site just recently launched, and (3) blogs. I have received (2) checks from Google for $117 and $114 respectively. I received a check from Clickbank recently for $176, and I average about $20 a month for writing How To articles, about 2 a month. These aren’t stunning figures by no means, the stunning part is that this was with very little effort and just dabbling. So I am now going to apply much more effort and see where this thing can take me. Part 2 to come tomorrow.
